New York

Tad and I were invited to go to New York with the Diamonds Backs.  Since Budweiser is a sponsor Tad gets invited on trips with the local teams all the time.   I just happen to get invited as well this time.  We headed out on Thursday morning arriving in New York at 5:00 pm.  Time to get checked in and freshened up for dinner at Keens Steakhouse.   Dinner was great and besides the other 10 or so sponsors, guests for dinner included Luis Gonzalez, Kirk Gibson and  Kevin Towers.  After dinner we need to walk off all that delicious food so we walked a few block to Times Square, which is so bright and all lit up at night.

Friday we had free time and were on our own until the bus left for Citi Bank Field.  We started off the morning going to Clear Station and met with Elvis Duran which their show is aired live in New York and syndicated in Arizona.  The show was off that morning because of Good Friday so they were playing the Best Of recordings.   Scary and Elvis (two of the shows morning people took us on a tour of the Clean Station studio where 6 radios stations play all from classic, jazz, hip hop, top 40 and easy listening.  They also have a very small and intimate stage where bands come in and listeners win a close up and personal concert tickets.  These two guys were very nice with coffee and New York Bagels all ready for us and they came in just for us... it was their day off!

After our radio tour we headed over to ground 0 in a cab.  That was a scary ride.  Cannot believe there aren't a million accidents.. those cabbys are CRAZY Drivers!!!!     It was amazing how much work they have done with the new towers.  One is almost done and the other 3 have been started.

We walked over so we could see the Statue of Libery.  We didn't have time to take the ferry over to Ellis Island for a closer look.

We decided to take the subway over to Central Park instead of a cab again.  We only saw a small portion of the park, I wish the trees would have had their leaves... they were all very bare, a few more weeks and it would be beautiful I'm sure.

We headed to our first Diamondback game at 4:00 and got a tour of the City Field.  Then went onto the field for hitting practice.    It was exciting to see the players up close and personal.

Our last morning before the last game, went to do some last minute shopping and see a few sites we didn't get a chance to see.

Lazy weekend....

Tori was suppose to have a softball tournament this weeked but since it rained all day Saturday it was postponed until the end of the month.     I found out at 6:00 am on Saturday that it was cancelled so I let Tori sleep in... I thought we would end of getting her up and driving all the way to the fields then get the message but we were informed very early.   After a lazy morning we went to see a movie, Soul Surfer.   It was a good movie and even though Tori told me about it (she read the book) I still cried.    It was a lazy day after that since it rained off and on all day.   It was kind of nice to just lay around and watch tv.

Sunday after church we wanted to go on a bike ride but we only have 3 bikes so we went on a long walk.  We took the path that goes along New River.   We walked 2 miles and decided we were all hungry so the first place we came to, Uncle Sams we ate at.  On the way home we played wall ball against a building and then ventured back home.   It was a great day out after the rain Saturday.

Starting up Hillcrest... don't know why they were walking on the curb.
Time out... my shoes untied

Annual Family Picnic

Today we had our annual White picnic. It was held at Surprise Park and what a nice park. It was such a great day and its always nice to see everyone. Even though most of us are in the valley we only see each other at the picnic. So babies are now toddlers and the other kids are now taller and the middle aged ones are a year older and wiser... haha.

I forgot my camera this year so I didn't get any pictures but this one with my phone......The girls and their first cousins.

Taylor isn't the tallest anymore and Tori is close to passing Brittney :))

Taylor gets a car

We have been looking for months for a car for Taylor. There was nothing but beat up, salvaged titles or 100,000 miles on these vehicles or if it was something nice it was a year old and more than we wanted to pay. We finally found a cute little ford focus for her. Its the perfect first car and she is very happy!!!

Taylor, Tatum and Tori going off together.... yes I took this picture and cried

Drivers License and a Baby?

Today Taylor got her Drivers License. I cannot believe she can drive all by herself. It felt like just yesterday we were at MVD getting her permit and bam six months flew bye so fast. It is so different having her drive and seeing all her friends driving.

I have a funny story to go with her getting her license today...
I had a meeting at SMHS today so I had Taylor take Tatum to Dance and then come pick me up. I was waiting and waiting and waiting wondering what was taking her so long....I was getting a little nervous..... I didn't want to call or text her so I just stood there talking to a few other moms waiting for her. She finally arrives and we walk over to the truck to find a baby carrier and baby in the front seat. She got her baby today in Child development and as she opens the door she has this look on her face of frustration. She blurts out.... This baby wouldn't shut up.... after I dropped Tatum off it cried and cried so I fed it, changed its diaper and it still would not quit. Me and the moms standing their just laughed and laughed!!!! Wow in one day she gets such a hugh life lesson!!!!

A little tv time while the baby is finally quiet

Taylor had to get up 3 times with the baby. She was so tired the next morning. The baby was better on the second night and only woke up once. Taylor was so glad to give the baby back.
